Dear folks,

We had a good week end with our guests, the Dairses. A highlight was the building of some snow figures on Sunday. The snow was ideal. Jane & I built the torso of a Grecian beauty on top of a fire hydrant, Jack & Steve an "Easter Island" monster. Photographs were taken by several people as we worked (on the campus) and we got a small write-up in the local paper (no names; "Four campus co-eds (ha!)....and their companions...."

Work has quieted down a bit. I was working terribly hard. today I brought in a big piece of lemon pie for an old professor's birthday & a young prof. put a candle on it & we & his class sang for him. I also talked to them more today, I make coffee on a hot plate at my feet & sell I to them. A library next door pre-orders architectural mags of great interest. This is really a well-staffed department -- all but one (of 7) really very likeable. An assistant (Peter Walker) is the best --
