foot-rest the rest of the way. The snow wasn't so heavy in Champaign, or so slippery. Actually not much snow fell, but the weather was and has been ever since, below twenty; on Monday it was 2°F. in Chicago and not much warmer here.

Saw a good movie last night, Disney's "The African Lion". Jack couldn't go because of the study, but I went with Joan Cederstrand on the bus (which runs right in front of the house to downtown Champaign). That was, of course, a fine picture.

About the tetanus shots. They were free, that's the main reason I started them. I was by no means immune, had a fever for a day after this first shot. The doctor said that I would need the whole schedule of shots, since immunity wasn't supposed to last much more than three or four years. It's a good thing to have such shots if you keep an animal, too, who will scratch you from time to time and walk about outdoors. It's a dreadful disease. Almost as bad as rabies, which was described to us by our vet friend Paul one night. That is 99% fatal, in agony, for all mammals. A vet has to be careful. Paul had helped unload from a trunk a rabid horse and was a little worried, but other vets who had come much closer did not take the vaccine shots. The shots are given everyday for two weeks, with occasional fatalities (very occasional), so you can see that a doctor would think twice before starting them on himself.

About the diary; of course I can use one, thank you!

Jack is putting in antifreeze after about an hour's work of draining and cleaning the radiator on a bitter night.
