Dear folks,

This is our "new" typewriter a fine old Underwood purchased for $29.50, about the best going price you can get. I like the old machines in which you can observe the moving parts; also, Jack can see to repair it better...

The rainy season is with us now, the leaves almost gone and cold breezes afoot. But then there is almost always something falling into this great Mississippi basin from the sky.

Penelope is getting better slowly. Her eyes, the only difficulty ever, seldom secrete water now, her appetite is better, and her yowl is almost up to pre-sick standards.

Thanks for the data. I'm afraid I'll have to ask for one other piece, which you may not have. I am taking out some health insurance for myself (Jack gets his with his tuition) from the University. The question of previous illnesses always arises. What exactly happened to me when a child concerning T.B.? Did I have a positive skin reaction? Did X-rays show any spot? At what age was this? What did the doctor say? When did the trouble go away? I am not going to volunteer any information about this unless obliged to, but would like to get the record straight. I don't believe I have had any other "previous condition" or that the touch of T.B. would count as one.
