sailed through an examination with only one bump - a stupid mistake of taking half of a quantity where I should have taken all of it, which will do little harm if the instructor is kind and not too much if he is unkind. This is gratifying - the last examination in that course I flopped with a low B.
We have three telescopes at our disposal now. Mine is here, and a neighbor of ours owns two more. Both of his are about the same size as min - 2 1/2" refractors - but one of his is a short focus instrument that gives wonderful views of faint objects. We brought my old tripod down and are using it for all three. This fellow also owns a 6" mirror, which we may mount on something. We have been getting good views of Saturn, Jupiter, and the moon, and a few star clusters in the short focus telescope.
Hope you enjoyed the trip. Especially the visit to my uncle - I haven't been to his place since age 11, and I understand he really has a fine house now.
I have seen Dr. Paton. A friend of mine shares his office.
