This is the general layout. We will need to know the length of AB and AD, which are the length of the two brass slide racks. (In addition, we will have to add a little fabric at A, since the sail is a little longer than either slide rack at that point.) I should also like to know [[strikethrough]] again [[/strikethrough]], the distance between A and the pulley on the top of the mast (between bottom of slide rack and pulley). Sails cost a good bit, so we will have to make one (about $60; I can make one for under $20). The big cost [[strikethrough]] was [[/strikethrough]] is added to by having to buy slides (brass) for the slide rack.

I imagine spring must really be coming along now, since robins and red maples are everywhere in evidence here.
