last batch of translating yesterday & said I wouldn't do any more until after finals. You must have misunderstood the rate - it is not $1 a pgae but 1¢ a word, while yields about $3.50 for an average Journal page. On one week end on the physics paper I made $31 and on the big soil science paper, $40. That's all right!

You seem to have had a very active Christmas week. Give our best to poor Ms. Allard. 

tonight we go to about 2 New Year's Eve parties - one at the Dewits, & probably a little at another party after that (Joe Oppenheim, a math student). I bought a new dress in Chicago (blue flower print on black, a cotton knit) to wear at this season. I almost forgot to thank you for your dress! It will be fine to wear this summer.

After a long warm spell it is beginning to get cold again. It got into the 50's in Chicago!
