advice on the portraits of you and me ("use an 'open shade'- no actual covering but a shade) and got as a result dark shadows hiding features. We took two pictures of Chain Bridge in the morning mist (just as we were leaving) which came out very well indeed. We saw a monster slide show Sunday night at the Blankfield's (Cederstrand friends) of slides of the West, of Canada, & of Michigan.

The Baboteks are Henry & Beatrice, whom I'm sure I mentioned before. Henry was a roommate of Jack's in his undergraduate days & is getting a Ph.D. in sociology or statistics, I'm not sure which. They bought a house & have been wearing themselves out repairing & painting it.

We both went to the dentist yesterday. Jack had three small fillings and I one large one (novocaine necessary - very deep). That will be all. He is a good, fast dentist, filling those four teeth in about an hour, without any pain. He uses a water spray & only one drill, drilling continuously until he is through. We figured he must make at least $30,000 a year net. (Jack was wondering why anyone would go into that dull work). Well -

Love, Doris

P.S. Please send the drop cake recipe which I forgot.
