Dear folks,

Received your letter. Since Monday things have quieted down, but tomorrow we have to make a trip to Chicago: Jack's mother is moving in another week & Jack will get together his delicate possessions & box them before her movers come. We won't go on the actual moving day because there is no need to.

We have been getting all sorts of nice invitations, some on the week end - won't be able to go - & are sewing up our future week end nights in social events. Jack is beginning hard study for prelims evenings. His examining committee has been selected & the time approximately set as early in November.

We were certainly sorry to forget the lunch. Instead of it, we [[strikethrough]] had [[/strikethrough]] got a loaf of bread & some tinned meat, not at all a even substitute. I have thought of something left behind: my shampoo & rinse (cream). Perhaps you can send them
