It has grown exceedingly hot here in town and has finally stopped raining every day. Jack's old boss Angelo Roasi left him a small but good fan, which we run at night with great improvement. I got two more window screens on the landlord's account, with many old mishaps: after I reached home I found only one screen & [[crossed out]] no [[/crossed out]] went back—but the second had mysteriously vanished. took home another. When I tried to fit one in a window it was about 2" longer on one side than on the other, obviously a serious flaw. So I have to go back again tonight.

Went to the Union (college) movie (25 ¢) last night and saw "Cyrano de Bergerac" -- one of the best movies I have ever seen. We read it in French in high school, as you may recall.

Jack is thinking of a possible way to cool the apartment on Saturday night: having a chicken-wire bound wrapped with towel with our rubber shower hose dripping cold water on it in the path of the fan at the window. It'll be fun to try it, anyway!

Well, must leave for work now-

Love,
Doris
