Dear folks,

We are told that one day last week it reached 87°, but it is fairly cool here today. It must be quite beautiful in Washington these days.

Do the mockingbirds have D.C. as their northernmost range, or why is it that there are not out here?

We went on another picnic Sunday, Rosei's farewell "party" (Jack's immediate base).
Unfortunately it began to rain after we got there. Because of a conclusion, we weren't allowed to eat in the park lodge, so we all stood in the downpour around a folding table loaded with food, bolden, a canvas over our (15) heads, which we later tethered to trees, and ate that way! Unusual, anyway! The food was very good (ham, potato salad, cake, fruit salad, bread & real butter, etc.) and everyone ate too much. Then the rain let up & people walked around, played ball, etc. One fellow brought a boomerang which whistled dangerously around us until Fravenfelder wisely made them quit it.
