we really got a good deal on the seats and upholstery for the car; Frank was going to charge us $50 for the back & front seats & door panels (4), covered with good-quality imitation leather (cheaper than seat covers of same material alone); but the back seat wouldn't fit our car, so he reduced the price to $35. We then took the upholstery off the back seats (little patching) so that we are now completely reupholstered for considerably less than the cost of new upholstery.

I'm afraid bargains will be the death of us: Rossi has agreed to sell us his complete apartment furnishings (bed, couch, desk-table, big round dining table & 5 chairs, 2 lamps, & 2 bookcases) for $80. I guess we'll find an unfurnished apt. at the end of summer + move this all into it. This place we are living in now is really too noisy in winter (kids play in hall). The furniture was originally bought by an architecture student and is very tasteful; we will keep it for years, I guess.

You seem to think the next will be Jack's last year, but that is highly unlikely -- at least two more are to come.

Don't work too hard on your spring planting!

Love,
Doris
