Income tax day - I waited until then, to send off the check - brought my check for the first Russian translation, just covering the income tax in time. There don't seem to be any other jobs in the offing so I translated an article which interested Jack (for his research) recently. The translating services are about a year behind on [[crossed-out]] pi [[/crossed-out]] journals, & we get two or three in the physics library, so I can be of help there (as well as in the journals that aren't translated). I am going to write to three translating outfits to try to get work this summer. But if I can't get enough of course I will have to find a full-time job, since we need the money.

We got an offer from our Volkswagen service man Frank Cipelle (a very good man) to buy a complete set of seats and door panels from a wreck. Since our seat covers are about ruined and the whole seats etc. are cheaper than new seat covers, we are buying & having them put in today. The seats have good-quality imitation leather covers, gray in color, and should last for years. I'll have to get another job quick to pay for them, tho! Don't worry, we aren't quite broke yet!

I have my second hour exam in my one hard math course tomorrow (got B+ on first) so should get to work. I am studying with a classmate this afternoon, a Chinese girl. Jack is busy as ever & must give a talk on his work on the experiment tomorrow, his second such talk.

Love, Doris
