friend: my Russian teacher (teaches 1/2 the classes). While shopping in Sears I met him selecting a wedding outfit for himself - he's getting married Sunday, & he asked me to have coffee with him. Subsequently, we arranged to go to the movies, which we all did last night, we saw Perri. Then he came over here & we had a merry time. (His fiancé is in her hometown getting ready.) It turned out that he was a linguist at N.S.A. at about the same time Jack was an engineer there (in D.C.)! He is a little young that we. I suspect we'll be seeing more of him and his bride. He suggested that I get a job in the summer translating Russian for the math department ( or, rather, said he thought I could do this), which would be exactly up my alley, & I will look into it shortly. What work to get here in town has been worrying me.

We've been reading a very entertaining book lately, "The Confessions of Felix Krull", bu Thomas Mann./ His last book.

Friday morning we will go to Chicago for three days. Then, work again. But we will be refreshed, I think.

I sent for & received a seed catalog. Tell me, would it be possible to grow petunias like yours now? Can they be grown in a window on the last side, not a really summer window? I'll try if you say it's possible.

P.S. He passed is proficiency last Saturday I should add.

Love,
Doris
