Dear folks,

Happy birthday, Mother! You didn't need to remind me of it, I had been thinking about it for a while. I am feeling rather tightwad after Christmas & won't send a card. 

We got the income tax papers. We won't fill them in for a while because I don't want their bill for a while, until our poor little bank account builds up again. We sent for license plates a couple of days ago. Thanks to our small car they are 1/4 as expensive as for a Buick. 

Didn't I mention that the dress fit? I won't be wearing it until summer, of course. Dolores & I don't exchange gifts. We have enough family thru marriage to prohibit that! Lena sent me a lot of odd wool balls.

Exams are looming up ahead now & I have begun to study at an accelerated pace. My math course has an hour exam next Monday; Sat. Jan. 18 is my Russian final; Mon. Jan 20 is the math final and Tue. Jan. 21 the physics final. They are far to close together for comfort! Jack has his nuclear physics exam on Jan 21 and [[strikethrough]] his [[/strikethrough]] another (proficiency) exam on Jan 25.
