We got several nice gifts in Chicago & I bought myself a few clothes - a dress & some shoes -as the years go by I buy less & less, this [[strikethrough]] year [[/strikethrough]] winter that was just about all. We have started going to some nice parties lately so I got a dress that can be worn to them but is pretty casual, for other uses. Jack got a plastic kit he's been wanting for months; of the Graf Zeppelin, 4 feet [[strikethrough]] or so [[/strikethrough]] long! It will join our plastic blimp model suspended from the ceiling in time, being of the same scale. What a scene!

I received a letter from Maud Cutting which is enclosed, you please return it and I will answer it later.

We don't know if Marguerite is going to Louisiana or not -- she will wait & see how Grandpa is. He was on his ulcer diet when we visited but otherwise not too badly off. he is painting a portrait of Shirley's father & has finished a second portrait of Shirley.

Glad Dad had such a lot of parties! We had much food too but walked a very great deal and ate only two meals a day. We saw various museums and shopped almost every day.

I will let Jack say a word (often telling all the things he probably could think of to say, about his gifts & all!)

Your gifts were really superb. I wouldn't say so if it weren't true, all things I needed badly, and all well chosen, of good quality. Particularly the sweater. If I were to write my specification of the ideal sweater
