at any rate, he has nothing definite to do at the moment. He is taking nuclear Physics, German, and 1 unit of Research. Frauenfelder, who teaches nuclear & heads his research, is in Italy & won't be back until October 6. So he's learning about the apparatus & studying on his own.

Jack's grandfather is better, but quite expand down in mood, after gloomy, feeling he has not long to live, despite the surgeon's reassurance. Marguerite is quite well & cheerful as usual. We visited Shirlly & Jim at her parents' Sunday; the Mrazer are moving to Wisconsin in a few weeks. They have trust a home there on the edge of the woods, to retire to, near some relatives. Ms. Maz is enthusiastic about house & garden care and has also a trout stream thru the land. He will be very content. They now have the beautiful german shepherd which belonged to her brother, who died recently.

We haven't seen many people here in town because our busy-ness but hope to before long. I'm afraid Jack will leave me alone much as soon as Frauenfelder returns;[[strikethrough]] Are [[/strikethrough]] One fellow there counted 37 evenings in a row away from home last year. I got my learner's permit here yesterday & plan to get the license soon, so I can visit people in the evening & not be always alone. The people in this house are O.K. but not interesting & we live far from most people we know.
