Dear Folks,

We feel somewhat like patrons of art knight; we're invited to a little get-together at Harry Partrich's to hear a re-run of his music on tape. We were interested in the second of his "Bewitched", & were told to go to him for an order, so we did last night & he invited us up for tonight. The poor man lives off his sale of recordings, & we liked the music, so we'll buy the record. He is a very interesting & artistic character; he is quite unconventional and, the he wants to get a teaching (university) job, is quite willing to turn down the V. of I. [[crossed-out]] for he [[/crossed-out]] a openly add that the atmosphere here would stifle him. He [[crossed-out]] hasn't [[/crossed-out]] doesn't belong to any formal school of music, has no degree, creates both instruments & music; this is frowned upon in the rather more formal music departments. His memory of Washington is a night spent in a 75ยข room in which he met with numerous bed-bugs; he doesn't care for the city, naturally. I told him bed bugs were even to be found out-of-door in D.C., as in your experience, mother, which I guess confirmed his dislike.
