Dear Sir:

I enclose a letter from Mr. Whiting, supt. of schools for the 2d Dist. Va.- asking for teachers &c  for Clarksville (Mecklenberg Co..) and Scottsburg (Halifax Co.) If you cannot supply the teachers, I do not know to whom to apply. I understand Scottsburg to be on the Danville R.R. and Clarksville reached by stage from Scottsburg Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. I hope you will find it practicable to visit these places and supply their necessities. Please return the enclosed with your decision in the premises.
