Richmond VA March 9, 1866
Capt. T.F.P. Crandon A.Q.M.
Sup. 4th Dist.

Capt. I have the honor to inform you that I have written to Mr. Frost Relieving him of any Genl. Superintendency of Schools in your district, and exhorting him to devote himself to the development of the School of Gordensville. The Association that sent him are not able to find a suitable man to act as supt. Besides the funds of the Associations, generally, are not adequate to much increase in the number of teachers and agents.

The care of the educational interests of the Bureau in your district will, therefore, devolve upon yourself. I shall hope to receive a rept. from all the all the schools in your dist. monthly giving 1st Location of school, 2nd names of teachers, 3d by what society supported, 4th the attendance on both day and night. schools- whole attendance and average-.
