Dear Sir:

Yours of the 8th is at hand this morning. I should like much to have you added to the force of teachers in Richmond, especially if it can be done in harmony with the new arrangements attempted. I will state the whole system and situation of affairs here. We are trying earnestly to reduce the educational matters to the district system in distinction from the Church system. None of the Churches, with the exception of the old 1st Ch., will have schools unless the rooms provided should prove inadequate to accommodate all. All above 3rd street is the 1st District, and the schools are at the Bakery buildings where we have fitted up accommodations for 600 scholars Between 3rd and 12th is the 2nd Dist. and the school rooms are at Navy Hill (Cor. 6th & Duval) and will accommodate 400 scholars. From 12th to 23rd Street is the 3rd Dist. and the Schools at the old Church. Below 23rd St is the 4th Dist. and the school will at Asbury Chapel, Union Hill, and Chimborazo
