pledge the maintenance of teachers at any point where needed and will make application, stating the number of teachers to be sent and the extent of accommodations required.

It would hardly be worth your while to send communications touching matters in Va. to General Howard, as he does not assume to do the work of the Asst. Com'r. and refers all such papers to him for his judgment and action.

In a letter from Mr. Pratt, dated June 25 forwarded, through Genl. Howard's Office he expresses a fear that Gov't buildings would be sold which might be wanted for federal purposes. The Bureau Sup. was immediately ordered to reserve from sale all buildings in his Dist. which might be wanted for such purposes.
