Mr. John W. Batt Agt. No. Branch, &c

Dear Sir: I am directed by Gen Brown to write to you, pointing out the proper and splendid[[?]] means by which school rooms may be supplied for the teachers sent out by the Ass'n you represent.

The Association is the chooser as to where it will send teachers, how many it will send &c. It bears the expense, knows its own ability &c. which the Bureau does not know. The Bureau "cooperates". with the society leading. Having, in your investigations as agent, fixed upon a point where you wish to establish a school, you should immediately make formal applic. to the Sup. of your District, stating the no. of teachers and of pupils to be accommodated, and any information in your possession that may assist him in providing in the least expensive way the necessary quarters. Such applications will receive immediate attention, and the best will be done that circumstances will allow. I wish you to keep me informed, directly, of whatever of importance, there may be your district which interests you
