Rev. Grammand Kennedy,

Dear Sir
I enclose transportation certificates for your teachers here at Petersburg. Miss Roswell traveled from N.Y. here at an expense of $17 of which sum she states the Bureau at Alexandria refunded $9— Therefore I call her Resident Alexandria. Miss Jones' ticket from Alexandria here was furnished her by the Bureau at the former place, hence I call her expenses from her home $12.50— the same she paid from home to Alex.

I am happy to inform you that the prospect for employment here for all the teachers at my house is improving. I have furnished Miss Baker a nice school only four squares from the house. Difficulties are yielding to discipline, and your schools daily increasing. I suppose you would prefer all to stay here if they can be profitably employed. I believe a few days will sow that they can. Please let me order for their transfer be suspended. I am anxious that the result should justify the expense you have put upon the place[[?]]
Very Respy
R.M. Manly
