Capt Wm P Austin Sup. 1st Dist

Captain: A letter from Misses Bartlett & Draper, teachers of the Baptist Home Mission Soc. dated Portsmouth Oct. 30,and addressed to Rev. Dr. Stockwell of this city has, by him, been refered to me. The letter represents the need of a suitable room in which to convene this school and invites the aid of the Bureau. Will you ascertain whether there is adequate provision, in the other schools in Portsmouth for all the colored children who will wish to attend school. If not, how can the request of the ladies named, be met with the least expenditure?

I am Very Resp'y Yours &c
By order of Gen. O. Brown
