Dear sir: Yours of yesterday, inviting me to special promptness in forwarding my statistical report of schools for Dec ult is this morning recd.  The report was completed last night at midnight from Dist. Reports just recd.' and I have the honor, herewith to submit the same for your information.
Allow me to call your attention to the answers obtained from the Reports of the Dist. Supts. to the questions "How many of the above schools are graded?  How many grades?"
There is evidently no common understanding of the import of the questions, and no information is conveyed in the answers.
The following are the answers from the 9 districts
1st District, 24 schools, 3 grades
2d District, 12 schools, 2 to 4 grades
3d District, 25 schools, 3 grades
4 District, 6 schools, 10 grades
5 District, 10 schools, 10 grades
6 District, 1 schools, 6 grades !!
7 District, 14 schools, 1 to 4 grades
8 District, 1 school 5 grades ! (This is the only school in the district and has two teachers)
9 District, 6 schools, 4 grades
