to repletion principally out of the other schools, as I ascertained by a personal inspection. The most temperate truthful characterization of Mr. Willing's school would, to a stranger [[strikethrough]] appr [[/strikethrough]] to the facts, appear to be dictated by passion and prejudice. I say it officially that during 18 years extensive observation I never saw but one other school so bad as that. The school did no good. It did much harm. The money expended on it was worse than was wasted. I was confident all the time that your association was not aware of all these facts. I often resolved to write you in reference to them, but was deterred by the fact that while I was a stranger, Mr. W. had your confidence, and by the attitude, as it was then understood of your association to the Bureau.

There are now before me earnest calls for teachers in more than thirty different places in this state — more work than all the associations can do. I am overwhelmed with interest and anxiety to see the religious and educational wants of these petitioners met, and yet societies overlap [[strikethrough]] each [[/strikethrough]] each other in the towns and cities
