I will mention another example.  An association is to build a school house in Petersburg in place of one lately destroyed by fire.  The Ass'n. furnishes $1500 and the Bureau $500 for a building to accommodate 300 pupils.  These instances show about how much the colored people and northern charity must do for the little the Bureau can do.  You will also see that we cannot appropriate more than from $2 to $3 for cash pupil to be accommodated.
