Captain:
Saml. M. Jouney, under date of "[[Lincon?]], Loudon Co. 7th Mo. 10th 1869 addresses Genl Howard"at the request of some friends living near Philamont" and asks for $500 for the creation of a school house. The paper has been referred to me for endorsement. Please obtain the following information:
1st How many children need school accommodation at that point?
2nd What will the Colored people themselves do toward the house?
3rd What would be the least sum necessary to complete the house?
4 Has the Philad. Society of Friends pledged the support of a teacher at that point? Mrs. [[Janney?]] says "I have reason to believe than an association of friends in Philad. will pay the salary of Teacher" [[&c?]]
to such sum as $500 can be appropriated to that point, in any case.
