Sep. 16 -

Mr. C.P. Goodyear
Agt. King Wm Co.

Dear Sir:
Your communication of the 8th, asking for $100 has this morning come into my hands and has been approved at once. You are on the right track. You had better not, however, spread your $100 over too much surface. If you get two or three schools started, at the best points, with that sum, we shall be fully satisfied.

And after such a foot has been accomplished, and you see your way clear for the successful establishment of other schools, ask again.

No part of this money must be spent for books. I can send you some primers from the American Track Soc and yourself or the people must provide such other books as may be necessary.

I write this upon the presumption that Gen. B. will approve my recommendation.

Respectfully Yours &c
R.M. Manly
