Mr. J. C. Haskell
Agt. A.M.A.

Dear Sir:

The desk we are now making is an improvement on those in Miss Clarks room and not any more expensive. Its dimensions as follows

slope of desk one inch
Length of the desk 42 in. My drawing is bad, making it appear too broad on the floor. I suppose the base covers about 24 inches
There is a shelf 8 or 10 inches broad 7 inches below the top. The lumber is Virginia pine. The top and ends 1 1/4 inch. the seat, back, and shelf inch.
It is fastened to the floor with nails "toed" in at each end and a thick iron knee secured to desk and floor. The price paid for them here has been $2.75 even for the last lot of 50 and $3. for the first lot.

In regard to the arrangement of them in the room - much depends upon the room itself.

The alleys between the rows of desks must not be less than 17 inches, should be 20 to 24, if the size of the room will allow. The outside passage against the walls of the room (side and back) should be 3 feet, though two feet will do.

Respectfully

R. M. Manly
