and expect, after five or ten years to begin to send out well trained teachers not only of "the three Rs" but of agriculture, horticulture, house-keeping and all the domaines of civilized life. My thought was of a self-supporting school-home of moderate dimensions at first, afterward by experience (and further aid from state or Government) to grow to something great and good.

I believe that if somebody would give me 500 acres of fine land, and turn over to me 10 girls and 30 boys, or a larger number, I could give them a good education, support them and make money too, and work them no more than would be good for soul and body.

I am not sanguine, however, that this is a work for the associations to undertake at present.

It is not thought that any new Normal School enterprise will be undertaken this year by the Bureau.
