Mr. Robt. Lindley Murray

Dear Sir: By the withdrawal of two associations from the support of teachers in this city there is a destitution of educational facilities deeply to be deplored. Probably not much less than one thousand children who had made a good beginning in learning are running to ruin in the streets or vainly clawing for admission into the already over crowded schools. You ought to have a force of at least eight or ten teachers here. Can you not send them? They shall be furnished with good schoolrooms and every assistance that the Bureau can extend. I am glad to learn that you are to send a male superintendent. I hope he will teach as well as superintend.
