who might be trusted to go abroad to teach. A larger number might be employed [[strikethrough]] while continue [[/strikethrough]] as assistant teachers in this city still continuing their connection with the Normal School. They could be supervised and built up in the right way or removed, if their service was not profitable, and sent back to school. I should heartily approve of this experiment, because it would be safe for all parties. Colored young people are very unreliable to be sent away from observation, into temptation, upon responsible duty. We that have opportunity to see this, have learned more than our northern friends will be gratified in reading. Yet they must be put into the work just as soon as fast as there is any safety.

This morning I have a letter from Mr. E. H. Ripley, the Bureau Agt. at Front Royal, informing me that he has secured a good boarding place for one or two ladies (two preferred by the Boarding mistress) at $20 per month, - which is low as board can be afforded anywhere in the state.

Persons acquainted with that section of the state say that is a delightful country and perfectly healthful. I believe it furnishes a fine field for your operations as a teachers. Mr. Ripley request, if convenient, that you will advertise him of the day of your arrival there so that he may meet you at the cars. The "Orange & Alexandria" R. R. from Washington to Manassas, and the "Manassas Gap" R.R. to Front Royal is the route. If you desire further correspondence in reference to the place, you had better Mr. Ripley as above. Wishing you happiness and success.
