Rev. Crane & Kennedy
Or Miss Ellen Collins
A communication without signature, but inferred to be from the pen of Miss Collins of date the 16th inst is recd. The circular I will use to the best advantage I am able; but it is not arguments or circulars that will bring the money in regular payments for nine successive months. The only thing that will do it is, that payment shall be uniformly and inflexibly insisted upon by all the associations-- and made the condition of membership in the schools. Words are of little account. I have used many of these and had universal and enthusiastic assent to the propriety and duty of paying, and equally universal neglect to do it, until it was "leave the school or pay". I have collected 25 cts per month from the older pupils and 15 cts from Misses Chase and Berger schools, and this has been about as much as they can do. If the other associations would concur and act together possibly a little more might be had
