Mr C L Schaeffer, Asst. sub Asst Comm
Dear Sir: I am informed by the N.Y. [[pr?]] F.U. Com. that in reducing their work to a very small measure they will be obliged to abandon Christiansburg I am very sorry for this. What can be done for that place? Have you any light? I have a ray of light and hereby give it. I expect to be put in charge of a sum of money to be expended in keeping alive expiring schools or those about to die, and [[crossout]]grow[[/crossout]] in bringing into life such as require but a little assistance. My plan is to pay about 25 cts per month, per pupil, on the average attendance, so that a teacher having so pupils would got $12.50 per month. This help is only designed for schools that cant live without it, - and they must be reasonably good schools. This fund is a charity, and is not yet certain, but nearly so.
Very Respy
