My Dear Miss Renne
We have not heard from you. Has the heat dried up your ink, and your pencil lost? I hope you are well and happy as possible.

The particular object of this writing is to let you know that our contributions of help from the city council are likely to fail. The newspapers are carrying in a frightful war against it, and we cannot - so far as now appears- depend upon it. How, then, will stand the prospect of your support at home. Talk that dear Uncle, for me, that we only want one more strong lift, and then with the blessing of God and the election Grant, we shall take possession of the city of Richmond, and shall take care of our good teachers with better salaries. Please tell me how much can be raised for you at home, and if there is a deficiency I will see what can be done about it. I hope there will be no deficiency.

The family are well except Mabeth & myself - we are taking doctor stuff.

Very Truly
