Dear Sir, I write this "Personal" to explain a little. You will, in a day or two have instructions to rent the lot, for the ensuing  year, on the which the old school barrack stands in Charlottesville and to make necessary repairs &c. The Society have abandoned the idea of building this year and retain the old places if possible. Miss Gardner thinks the building stands insecurely, and whether she wants other repairs I know not. I have written to the [[?]] to have her say to you what she wants;- then you can judge for yourself. Allow me to say there is not much time to lose. If it is so difficult to find the man who owns the land, perhaps we will do to assume that the ground can be had, as heretofore
