P. Austin, a.s.a com'r.

Dear sir: Yours of the 12th is just to hand. I am anxious to develop the schools is your county and shall be able I hope to do something for you. Have you proper accommodations at the C.H. for two teachers and 100 pupils? I expect to be able to help you in the support of teachers for that place to the extent probably of $10 per month each teacher, from a charitable placed under my control, and I believe some further help can be had from other loaners. If from these, and each other assurances as you get from other loaners, you are sure that your wife and another teacher will come out and teach, make applications to me for transportation for them, giving names and permits when they take and leave the cars (staging (?) be included].
In regard to the other places, if you know of any competent colored or white teachers, on the ground, let me know and also how much the people will do to help themselves, and how much additional will be required.
Truly yours
R.M. Manly

P.S. I can send you a colored lady teacher for Meherrin stations as soon as I hear from you that all things are ready and what the people will do. RM
