Dear Sir: I return the enclosed reports for correction. They are so manifestly, erroneous that I dare not forward them to Dr. Sears as the basis of a money voucher. For example. Miss Nickens Report- 36 whole wks and 36 Avg. The only way in which that is possible is for the whole 36 to have been present the first and every day, and no others to have been present all. If one scholar was absent for a single day that the whole attendance would be greater than the average. If these reports are correct, I never knew a parallel case. The teachers should keep a daily record of attendance, and at the end of the month add up these daily records and divide by the number of days. I am sorry to trouble you but I hope you will instruct these teachers or ask some of the white teachers to do it in the matter of their records. I send some registers today for all the teachers.
Very Respy,
