Mr. Eli L. Brodshaw

Dear Sir:

The only way in which we can aid you is by paying rent on the school house in which you teach. Make application to Maj. E.S Ewing, Asst. Supt. Schools, Petersburg (who has the immediate charge of all Bureau Schools in your Section of the state) requesting him to have leases made out so that you can draw $10. per month rent. Fill out a report for December and forward to him, and also state to him how many scholars you now have in school yet.

We dont want your school to stop, and it must not, if it can be avoided.

Yours Truly
R.M. Manly
Asst. Supt. schools
