Mr. R. R. Corson
Dear Sir: The writer of the enclosed letter is a white Virginian - a thorough Republican, under the ban of social ostracism because he teaches "niggers". Fields Cook who has handed me the letter is one of our No 1 colored men. The Bureau is out of funds, and I cannot take any more upon the Peabody foundation. Can you do anything for him? If so communicate directly with him.
