Geo. E. Stevens
Dear Sir:

Upon a fuller examination of the list of schools aided by me, I find that I shall have to drop a considerable number in order to adapt myself to the diminished condition of my treasury. You have a society to fall back upon, whose confidence you enjoy. I shall be obliged to leave you henceforth to their tender mercies. I am confident they will not let their school decline.

Miss Roberta D. Scott-

Your rent is reduced to $10. per month from Jan. 1st. and you are to have $20 per month from Jan. 1st from Miss Collins, and $10. per month from me, which will make you $40. all together, and the people who send children to school ought to do something for you.

As you have rec'd $20 rent for Jan. by a mistake here (instead of $10 as it should have been) I retain $10. out of this $20 which I have rec'd from Miss Collins and enclose $10 (the balance).

Please send me a receipt for $20. [You will understand that the $10. too much which you have rec'd as rent and the $10. enclosed makes up the $20 for which I wish you to send me the enclosed. Please sign and return.]
Hoping you are well
Very Respy
R.M. Manly
