Dear Sir:
At the suggestion of Rev. Geo Whipple, sec Amer Miss Assn. I take the liberty of inviting your attention to the "Hampton Normal & Agricultural Institute". This school has recd a charter of incorporation, to enable to hold property and manage its affairs, but was grounded and has been built up so far, by the Amer Miss Ass'n, aided by the Government and various charitable bequests. It has a very valuable form of 175 acres which cost $19000. and its buildings and other permanent improvements have cost, I suppose, nearly as much more. They contemplate erecting much larger and much more permanent buildings when the means can be provided. The school was opened a year ago with between 30 and 40 pupils, and now has over 60 of both sexes. More children are not received
