Dear Sir:
The Freedman in Alexandria formed a board of trustees two years ago and purchased two lots of land for $1700, and uptown this time have paid $900., leaving due on said lots $800, which they are not likely to pay. The Bureau created on these lots two large fine school houses, which are thoroughly furnished, at an expense of more than $10.000.
In the way these buildings are now held there is a great evil. The Board is wholly colored and is a quarrelsome, unmanageable lot. It has taken all the authority of the Bureau to keep  them from dictating the interior management of the schools , which grows out of the
