desire particularly to acknowledge the rest of the information "that when a change is desired they or yourself will give me ample notice".

In regard to Genl. Howards Mission of which you speak I know nothing, and am sure that there is no truth in the story. He spends public money only; leaves the societies to collect and spend private money.

Mr. Dundor and Mr. Palmer have never communicated with me, and I do not know that have with any society. Of course they cannot and do not complain that they are not known and employed.

Your politics are nothing to me. I neither know nor care to know them. The politics of the parties from whom buildings are rented, we neither ask nor care to know.

We only seek to bring the greatest number of children possible under instruction at the least cost to them — always aiming, of course, that the teachers shall be persons whose habits and example shall promote virtue, sobriety and industry, and caring very little for the politics.
