BUREAU R.F. & A.L.
Office Superintendent of Education Virginia
RICHMOND, VA. June 21st 9

Bvt. Major Genl. O.O. Howard USA
Commissioner

General,

On Saturday last, Dr. T. Braxton of Hanover County, called at this Office and exhibited an order of Gen'l. O. Brown dated June 10th 1868 directing him to deliver up the child of Addison Holmes (colored), and stating that "any claims you have against Holmes will be arranged hereafter".

Addison Holmes was at the time a servant of Gen'l. Grant's, and brought with him to Richmond, so I am informed, a letter from the Maj. Gen'l Com'r directing that assistance in recovering his child, be furnished him.

The Doctor claims $150.00 for proffessional services to Holmes' wife and also for board and care of child for 3 years, and desires to know if he can obtain the money.

I am, General
Very respectfully
Your obt. Servt.
