Miss M.H. Daniels

Yours of the 18th came duly to hand, and would have been answered immediately, but for business engagements which made it impossible.

The only form in which the Bureau can extend aid to teachers is in the form, or under the name of rent. If you will reopen your school and maintain it with an average attendance of not less than 20 pupils I will pay you $10 per month. If the owner of the room in which you hold your school insists upon charging you for the use of it, you will have to pay him out of this. This is the most that the Bureau can do for you.

If your school should have 25 to 30 scholars I will try to get something for you from the Peabody fund, but nothing is certain in regard to that.

An early answer is desirable. If you accept fix the day for commencing your school.

Truly Yours
R.M. Manly
Supt Education.
