170 410 /86 July 19 9 Rev Edw F Hatfield D.D. Com'r. Presb. Com. Home Miss Dear Sir: By the withdrawal of the New York Branch F.U. Com. from the most of its educational field, a number of superior teachers proved by experience, are left without employment, who ought not to be so left. I will mention Mr. & Mrs. A.C. Burbank who have taught three years at Lawrenceville, in a difficult field, with excellent success. They are devout Christian people (Congregationalists I think) well educated, skillful, and of long experience. I should be glad to see them in charge of your interests at Fredericksburg. It is quite an important place and requires a man to give the proper tone, and to develop the spirit of self-help among the people. If you think favorably of this, will you forward this letter to Mr. Waring for his views. Very Respy R.M. Manlly Supt Education
