Miss Ada W. Smith

No application has yet been made for the Sewells Point School House I am glad to hear that you do not abandon Norfolk.

Alexandria has two large, fine school buildings with seven [[strikethrough]] just [[/strikethrough]] find school rooms in each. The buildings were erected by the Bureau and belong to the Freedmen. The New York Branch, F.U. Com. has been supplying these, and will, as I understand, make a partial, but not full supply next year. The Normal or highest classes have been assigned to them and the teachers - the same who have heretofore had charge, will continue. If you wish you can correspond with Mrs. J.S. Lowell, North Shore, NY. (the Sec. of the N.Y. Br. and she can give your more definite information regard to their intentions.
