Dear Sir:

The School at City Point has been conducted by the "Friends Freedmens Ass'n of Philadelphia". M.E. Shearman Sec. 116 North 4th, Phil. Our rule is to allow an Association which has taken a school in charge to continue it, if they wish to do so. Miss Shearman has not notified me that they should discontinue that school. If they do not wish to do it I should be glad if possible to make an arrangement with you.

There would probably be allowed from the Peabody fund from $5 to $10 per month for each teacher - depending upon the size and value of the school, when I should see it.

You can, if you wish address Miss Shearman.

I doubt if a school will be kept there unless the people (the freedmen) aid in its support.

Yours Truly
R.M. Manly
